Former international Steve Glockner takes over the coaching reins at ACE
ACE has a new head coach – Steve Glockner, pictured, right).
The former Australian international was appointed this week, replacing Pouria Nabi, who has joined Moreton Bay United (MBU).
Glockner, who played for the young Socceroos at the 1983 Youth World Cup in Mexico, was coach at Easts in the Brisbane Premier League last season.
But said he knew joining ACE was an opportunity “too good to refuse”.
“I am looking forward to the new challenge of coaching at ACE in 2018 and continuing the philosophy that Pouria has developed over the last three years,” he said.
“I was very happy to be approached by Pouria with regard to the position and I knew instantly that it was an opportunity too good to refuse.
“The facilities at Wolter Park and South Pine Sports Complex are outstanding and it will be a pleasure to be part of

Pouria's plan
Three main targets over next three seasons, says new Jets coach
POURIA Nabi, the former ACE coach who has joined Moreton Bay United’s senior coaching team, has outlined a specific three-year, three-target plan.
Nabi has started work with Dave Harris on Jets’ 2018 squad and PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland after Adam Piddick stepped down from his role with the senior side, but remains the club’s technical director.
“It’s a really exciting opportunity, a very interesting project and I’m very happy to be on board,” said Nabi, who has an Asia A Coaching Licence as required by the NPL.
“I had thought about it for some time (progressing to the NPL) and had a chat with Adam, as I think we have a close football philosophy, the same drive and passion.
“The priority is to keep 95 per cent of the current Jets’ squad. I’m not looking for lot of change. Just to keep the core of
Pouria joins Jets
ACE coach Pouria Nabi joins Moreton Bay United after Adam Piddick steps down
POURIA Nabi, the ACE head coach, has joined Moreton Bay United.
He replaces Adam Piddick who has stepped down from his role with the Moreton Bay United (MBU) senior team – but remains Jets’ Technical Director.
After three years with ACE, Nabi now teams up with Dave Harris in Jets’ senior coaching team for next season.
Adam Piddick made his decision after three years with Jets’ top side during which it won the Premiership and Grand Final double in 2015 and reached the semi-finals of the national NPL Finals.
This year Jets won the pre-season Silver Boot Cup, the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Grand Final and last 16 of the Westfield FFA Cup for the first time.
“We have had three seasons in charge of the senior team, two of them being very successful due to all the hard work from our playing group and

Massive chance
ACE have a great opportunity to reach a cup final, says Pouria
ACE coach Pouria Nabi sees tomorrow’s Canale Cup clash at Peninsula Power is a “massive chance to get to the final”.
The regional derby semi-final follows an impressive display by Pouria’s men in their 5-1 thumping of Souths, in the final round of the Brisbane Premier League.
ACE hit top form on Saturday creating dozens of chances and could have doubled their score, according to Pouria.
“The boys’ work rate was fantastic. That was the key,” said Pouria, “their performance was fantastic. I could not have expected any more.
“It could have been 11-1, 12-2, 13-2. We created so many chances.
“It was a great result in one game, but perhaps the worst ever win, leaving us two goals short of the finals. It’s hard to take.
“I love ACE and wanted the finals to be a present to the club.”
That comprehensive victory lifted ACE

Pouria's junior appeal
Big support could be key in quest for three vital points, says Pouria
ACE coach Pouria Nabi has issued a big rallying call to the club’s juniors.
Pouria’s ACE Senior team faces Premier League leaders Rochedale at Wolter Park tomorrow, kick-off 5pm.
ACE are sixth, three points off the play-off places with only two games remaining making victory over Rochedale vital.
“This is our last home game for 2017 and this season our senior boys have contributed to ACE in terms of junior coaching,” said Pouria.
“Chom Arop, Ahmed, Declan Morris, Matthew Sanchez, Bezhad Ariayee, Royce Brownlie have all been permanent coaches from the beginning.
“I hope the juniors would want to give something back to those senior players. We need their support with a huge turnout.
“Big support from the juniors may be equal to three points. We still have a massive chance for the finals.”
Victory would also give ACE a springboard in to the final Premier
Anything can happen
ACE determined to put on a good show says Thomson
THE odds may be against ACE, but there will be no let-up on Saturday, says midfielder Darren Thomson.
Leaders Rochedale visit Wolter Park, kick-off 5pm, in the penultimate Premier League round with ACE in sixth, three points and two places adrift of the play-offs.
Even victory may not be enough for Pouria Nabi’s men if fourth-placed Mitchelton beat Easts at Teralba Park.
But Thomson said: “We want to win this game. Even at the end of the season everyone’s still determined.
“Yes, we need other results to go our way and there are only two rounds left, but in football anything can happen.
“And don’t forget the Canale Cup. Everyone’s competing for places in the team for the semi-final.”
The 4-0 loss at Rochedale in their first meeting is still ACE’s heaviest defeat of the season and one the squad hope to avenge in their final home
