Same again, says Chom
Momentum key to striking silver again
STRIKER Chom Arop believes ACE need a simple game plan for tonight’s Silver Boot Cup clash against Easts at Richlands, kick-off 8.30pm.
“We just have to keep playing with the same momentum that we had in the last game and hopefully we’ll get a win again,” said Chom.
Seven days ago ACE came from behind to beat last season’s grand final runners-up Mitchelton 3-2 in the opening fixture of Group A. Chom scored a last-minute winner.
Victory tonight over Easts, who beat Grange 2-1 in their Group A match last Tuesday, would put ACE in pole position for a semi-final spot in the pre-season tournament.
“Team performance is always good, but getting the win is better,” said Chom, “we can always work on the team, but we just need to get the win.”
The 2017 season has started well for ACE with three wins in three matches and three goals

Aiming for Silver semi
Ins and outs ahead of crucial Silver Boot clash
COACH Pouria Nabi is aiming for a place in the Silver Boot Cup semi-finals tonight – but admits his main target is still 19 days away.
ACE face Grange in the final Group A match at Richlands, kick-off 6.30pm, knowing a sizeable victory is needed.
Easts top the group with six points and a goal difference of +3. Mitchelton are second on three points and +1 goal difference, ACE are third on three points and -1, Grange last after two defeats.
A big win for ACE and narrow victory for Mitchelton over Easts, who start at 8.30pm, may help Pouria’s men squeeze through.
“If we get through of course I will be happy,” said coach Pouria. “But the top priority is getting the boys fit, ready and working as a team for Ipswich.”
ACE start their Flight Centre Premier League season at Ipswich Knights on February 18.

Good time to be here
Jake delighted to join strong ACE squad
JAKE Keslake has made a short trip south to sign for Albany Creek Excelsior (ACE).
The central defender was a regular with North Pine in last season’s Flight Centre Premier League. But in 2017 he will wear the red and black of ACE.
“I think the BPL’s a good standard and I want to give it a good shot against the best players in Brisbane and Queensland,” said Keslake.
“It seems like (ACE has) a good, strong squad that’s improving and challenging – and it’s a good time to be here.”
Keslake will bring defensive composure, aerial power and strength to the ACE back line. The 24 year old said he’s also hoping to add a “few clean sheets”.
ACE coach Piuria Nabi was delighted with his signing: “A couple of times we played North Pine last season and Jake was really very good,” said Nabi.
“I heard from several
Xander's ACE challenge
Keeper wants senior match time
GOALKEEPER Xander Gwynn-Jones has joined Albany Creek Excelsior (ACE) with his own targets – and a challenge from coach Pouria Nabi.
Gwynn-Jones, 20, played nine games for Moreton Bay United Under 20s last season, and was on the bench four times for the senior NPL side.
“I want game time, so I made the switch because that seems the best move for me and I’ll get most game time out of it,” said Gwynn-Jones.
“It’s senior level I’m striving to get to. For a goalkeeper it is essential to develop through match time.
“I have no guarantees. I’ll just work as hard as I can to break through in to the top team.
“I hope it (signing for ACE) will help me develop as a player, to make the right decisions in games.
“It’s all good doing that in training, but game time matters. If you are not comfortable in games there’s
Brownlie signs for ACE
Family made it easy for me, says Royce
ROYCE Brownlie, the all-time leading scorer in the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland, has signed for Albany Creek Excelsior.
Brownlie hit 72 goals in four seasons with Moreton Bay United, was Jets’ foundation captain and skippered the side to the league and grand final double in 2015.
But, in a major coup for ACE, the former Queensland (now Brisbane) Roar striker has decided now is the time to return to the BPL.
“It was coming to a time where you don’t get any younger and it’s putting back in to ACE where we have kids coming through,” said Brownlie.
“Players like Chomba (Arop) and a few of the other boys who hopefully I can pass on some tactics and information and slowly start making the transition to the other side (coaching).
“I’ll definitely keep playing, but the main part of the decision to step down this year was work
