Truck Crash in Brendale Damages Eleven Vehicles

Eleven vehicles were damaged after a semi-trailer truck veered off South Pine Road, Brendale and crashed into parked cars at a nearby business.

The accident occurred just after 8:00 AM on April 10, 2025, near the intersection with Johnstone Road. According to witnesses, the truck initially “mounted the curb at the fresh produce store” before continuing on to strike multiple vehicles in a nearby parking lot.

The Queensland Fire Department confirmed that a total of eleven vehicles were involved in the crash. While the incident caused extensive property damage, remarkably only one person required medical assessment by paramedics, and that individual declined transportation to the hospital.

Queensland Police Service officers attended the scene, and investigations into what caused the truck to leave the roadway are currently ongoing.

Missing Bridgeman Downs Man: Community Search Intensifies

The search for a missing Bridgeman Downs man has entered its third day, with police continuing to appeal for public assistance.

Shehan Manatunga, a 20-year-old non-verbal man from the northern Brisbane suburb, was last seen on March 18 at 11:33am when he disembarked from a Route 345 bus at The Cultural Centre. He was observed heading toward South Bank on foot.

Police have expressed particular concern due to Shehan’s non-verbal status and the length of time he has been missing. Authorities are focusing their search efforts in areas he frequently visits, including South Bank, Aspley, and Shorncliffe, in addition to his home suburb of Bridgeman Downs.

Shehan is described as 182 cm tall with a proportionate build and of Indian appearance. He was last seen wearing a black bucket hat, light-coloured shirt, blue denim shorts, and black sneakers.

The disappearance has prompted concern throughout the Bridgeman Downs community, with residents being asked to check their properties and any surveillance footage that might help locate the missing man.

Local search efforts have been concentrated in parks and public spaces throughout Bridgeman Downs, with particular attention to bus stops and public transportation routes that Shehan may have used.

Woman in Ceiling Forces Temporary Closure of Albany Creek Tavern

Albany Creek Tavern at Albany Creek was forced to do a temporary closure on Friday, 6 December 2024, after a woman climbed into the roof cavity.

Emergency services were called to the pub at 4:30 PM. Police located a 48-year-old woman who had entered through a manhole in the building’s ceiling and initially refused to come down.

The pub was evacuated, and power to the establishment was shut down. Queensland Police Service reported the woman appeared drug-affected and would not initially descend from the roof cavity.

At approximately 5:00 PM, the pub was evacuated due to power disconnection. Police negotiated with the woman, who ultimately climbed down at around 6:50 PM.

The woman was transported to hospital by Queensland Ambulance Service. The pub reopened at 7:00 PM.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
