Hope for quick return

Hamish waiting for specialist opinion on injury
ACE midfielder Hamish Maguire missed most of last night’s Westfield FFA Cup tie against Jets – but he hopes to be back soon.
Hamish, who joined us from UQ during the summer, twice needed treatment on the pitch in the opening exchanges of the cup tie at Wolter Park.
The second time he left the field and was taken to hospital, but was thankfully back home today.
“There was challenge in the first couple of minutes where I landed on my shoulder which I feel may have put it out of place,” he said.
“I tried to play on. A few minutes later there was a shoulder to shoulder (challenge) and it completely come out after that.
“I won’t know the extent of the dislocation until I see a specialist, but I’m hoping it’ll only be at least a couple of weeks.”
We all wish Hamish a speedy recovery and return to

"More than just a game"

ACE out to prove their pedigree, says Chom
ACE striker Chom Arop says tomorrow’s Westfield FFA Cup clash with Moreton Bay United is “more than just a game”.
History will be made at Wolter Park, kick-off 7.30pm, when Flight Centre Premier League ACE face Jets for the first time in competition.
Each side has players who have worn the colours of both clubs – including Chom Arop (ACE) and Riley Campbell (Jets), who were team-mates last year
But tomorrow there will be no favours in the battle for a place in the next round.
“It’s more than just a game,” said Arop, “we’re looking to show how good we are.
“I think friendships have to be pushed to the side for this game. Afterwards we’ll be friends, but during the game they are just another opponent.”
“Previous results count for anything. Sometimes football is a mental game. We lost on the weekend but that won’t affect how

One of toughest ties

We’ll treat it same as any other game, says Pouria
IT was the draw neither club wanted, but ACE will face Jets in the Westfield FFA Cup Preliminary Round 5 next week.
For ACE, drawn as the home team, it will be their third tie after wins at Springfield and Toowong this season. Jets, officially the away team, will be making their 2017 cup debut at Wolter Park on Friday, May 5, kick-off 7pm.
Both coaches are predicting a tough game.
“I wouldn’t say I am happy to be playing Moreton Bay United at this stage,” said ACE coach Pouria Nabi. “It’s one of the toughest games in the FFA Cup.
“But we’ll be treating it the same as any other – and as soon as the referee blows the final whistle we’ll be best of friends.
“I’d like to invite all members of both clubs to come down and enjoy the evening and support their

Watching and waiting

Royce looking for half a chance to make it a hat-trick
ROYCE Brownlie’s cool, close-range finish may have beaten Logan last week, but his previous two goals have really had everyone talking.
Both times it was two touches and a sensational 45-yard chip over the Grange/Logan goalkeepers! Pictured: Royce and team-mates celebrating his long-range strike against Logan.
Now the question: Can the captain do it in a third successive match, this time against Capalaba at Wolter Park today, kick-off 4.45pm?
Royce will certainly be looking for the opportunity. “I’ll be watching,” he warned last night, “watching to see if the keeper’s off his line. If I get half a chance, I’ll have a go.
“To be honest I’ve noticed keepers play more off their line in the BPL than NPL. They’re more sweepers. With those goals, both goalkeepers were further out.
“The first one (at Grange), I didn’t hit it quite as well as I wanted. But the
