Jordan making his mark in senior football
AGE is proving no barrier for 18-year-old Jordan Wust.
Last season he was joint top scorer for Moreton Bay United Under 20s with 20 goals. He started this year in senior football with ACE Reserves and is now a regular in the ACE first team squad. In fact he has played every minute of the last two games.
Jordan is hoping for more of the same tomorrow night when Ipswich Knights visit Wolter Park (kick-off 8.30pm) in a game which could send ACE top of the Flight Centre Premier League – depending on Mitchelton v Grange being played at the same time.
“I’m pretty pleased at how season’s going,” said Jordan, whose football career started with Caboolture, moved to Sunshine Coast Heat and then Moreton Bay United from Under 16 level.
“It started slowly (in the Reserves this season), but I’ve been given chances and had full games against Moreton

Back to the "buzz"
Coach Pouria looking for repeat of cup display – but better result
ACE coach Pouria Nabi is looking back to the future. Back to the “great buzz” around his team last weekend. A “buzz” he now wants at every game.
And that starts tomorrow when Souths visit Wolter Park, kick-off 3.30pm, one place above ACE possibly in the tightest Premier League table ever seen.
Three points cover the top eight teams and just two points between second and eighth place – where ACE currently sit, one below Souths. But, crucially ACE have a game in hand on all above them, bar Mitchelton.
“We didn’t have a good game at Rochedale, but bounced back against Moreton Bay United (in the FFA Cup),” said Pouria, “and were a bit unlucky in terms of the result.
“Coaches say a win covers the cracks, but when lose you ask why and go in to the details. You learn a lot.”

Tributes paid to “father of our club” – Keith Wruck
KEITH Wruck, the “father” of Albany Creek Excelsior (ACE) Football Club, has died aged 92.
Mr Wruck, who owned a 33-acre farm in Albany Creek, was a key figure in the club’s formation in 1963 and the next two decades.
He was also on the P&C of Albany Creek State School, in the auxillary firebrigade and Albany Creek Citizen of the Year in the late 1970s. Albany Creek shopping centre and tavern now stand on the land he farmed and the joining road, Wruck Crescent, is named after him.
Mr Wruck moved to the Sunshine Coast hinterland in the late 1980s and then Caloundra. He passed away at an aged care home in Beerwah on Saturday, May 6.
As a mark of respect a minute’s silence will be held at Wolter Park at 3.30pm on Saturday (May 13) before the ACE senior men’s game against Souths.

Jemima's goal-den run
ACE teenager’s remarkable run wins award
JEMIMA Blackmore’s remarkable scoring record has been recognised by Football Brisbane which named her the McDonald’s player of the Week.
Last night the 14-year-old central midfielder scored her 15th goal in five matches as ACE Under 16 Division 2 Girls drew 3-3 with Park Ridge at Wolter Park.
Jemima had previously scored all bar one of her team’s goals this season: 2 v Jimboomba, 6 v Logan, 4 v Capalaba, 2 v The Lakes. She also leads the division’s scoring charts.
The award citation said: “Jemima shows great team spirit and leadership and is a loyal ACE player with a great future in the sport.”
However, Jemima said she was “surprised to win the award” but has set herself a target of hitting 40 goals this season.
Having scored 21 in 16 games for ACE last season, that may not be beyond the realms of possibility.
