Jemima's goal-den run

ACE teenager’s remarkable run wins award
JEMIMA Blackmore’s remarkable scoring record has been recognised by Football Brisbane which named her the McDonald’s player of the Week.
Last night the 14-year-old central midfielder scored her 15th goal in five matches as ACE Under 16 Division 2 Girls drew 3-3 with Park Ridge at Wolter Park.
Jemima had previously scored all bar one of her team’s goals this season: 2 v Jimboomba, 6 v Logan, 4 v Capalaba, 2 v The Lakes. She also leads the division’s scoring charts.
The award citation said: “Jemima shows great team spirit and leadership and is a loyal ACE player with a great future in the sport.”
However, Jemima said she was “surprised to win the award” but has set herself a target of hitting 40 goals this season.
Having scored 21 in 16 games for ACE last season, that may not be beyond the realms of possibility.
